Hi, I'm Dan. I am a multimedia specialist with a passion for bettering my community through digital storytelling. I have built my career around my education in communication, with particular interests in digital media, journalism, public service, and technology. See some samples of my work below, or take a look at my work history on LinkedIn above.
This is a recruitment video for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. They wanted something focused on young adults and recent graduates that could be played on loop at recruitment fairs.

This video highlights the delivery of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree and shares a road safety message from the truck driver who hauled it from Nevada.

This video highlights a trip former Secretary Buttigieg took to New York City to meet students at a transportation magnet school.

This is a video I made for then-Transportation Secretary Buttigieg's team highlighting the investments to the public transportation system in Joliet, Illinois and communicating the potential benefits of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

This video I worked on for Secretary Duffy utilized an LED video wall as the backdrop, which I assembled and configured for this production.

Audiovisual Production Spaces
I designed and assembled A/V Production kits during my time at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Here are the highlights.
Mobile Production Suite

After: A complete production suite on wheels. Just wheel it out, plug it in, and put up your cameras. I designed this to use as much of our current stock of equipment as possible and procured the rest.

This setup utilizes a TriCaster 2 Elite video switcher, Sony ULX-D microphones, and Blackmagic Deisgn media playback, presentation switching, and recording equipment. Cameras connect using either NDI or SDI. Connected computers allow for up to three concurrent video calls or presentations, and multiple video outputs allow for sending different sources to different destinations at the same time.

Before: All production equipment had to be set up separately, increasing the possibilities of human error and taking more time.

Green Screen Production Space

A live-composite green screen studio, allowing for virtual background for video calls, news interviews, and pre-recorded remarks. Utilizes the Blackmagic Design Ultimatte 12, delivering real-time compositing on par with post-production processing done in DaVinci Resolve. The Blackmagic Design Ursa Mini also records the original, uncomposited clip in RAW format. The video switcher and Ultimatte connects to and from the conference center's video hub, allowing for maximum flexibility for video inputs and outputs.

Travel Productions

Packable, deployable. It may not be as flashy, but I upgraded and maintained our travel kits to be airplane-ready for multi-camera live streams from anywhere. The TriCaster Mini allows multiple video sources and playback. The needs for each production were different, and I ensured we always came prepared.
